Google Classroom

Google Classrooms are set up for each child's class, from Kindergarten through to Year 10. This is where homework is accessed for students in Kindergarten to Year 2 as well as class learning activities from Years 3 to 10.

Accessing Google Classroom

  • The username is the email listed in the Student Diary, e.g., jane-smith@scas.nsw.edu.au.
  • K-2 passwords are in the School Diary. Years 3-6 have unique passwords, resettable by the school if forgotten. Younger Primary students may need help logging in.
  • Each Google Classroom has been set up by the class teacher and has its own unique code, which only needs to be entered the first time. This code will be listed in your child's Diary.
  • We do not encourage the use of the chat component in these classrooms.
  • Parents can log in with their child's email to review content, but they don't have direct access.
  • Each classroom has a unique entry code listed in the Child's Diary.
  • Technical requirements are minimal; the platform is accessible via mobile apps or classroom.google.com.

Parental Involvement:

  • Teachers encourage parents to assist their child in accessing the platform without using the chat feature.
  • Teacher communication should occur via email or phone.

For login issues or lack of internet access, parents should contact the School.

Accessing Google Classroom

  • Logging In: Students use their school-provided email to access Google Classroom. Parents can log in with their child’s email to review content and assist. K-2 passwords are in the School Diary. Years 3-6 have unique passwords, resettable by the school if forgotten. Younger students may need help logging in, but they’ll become more independent over time.
  • Classroom Codes: Each classroom has a unique code (found in your child’s diary) that only needs to be entered the first time.
  • Devices and Connectivity: Google Classroom works on most devices via the app (iOS/Android) or at classroom.google.com. It has minimal technical requirements and runs smoothly, even on mobile data.
  • BYOT Policy: Expectations for students in Years 5 to 12 are outlined in the BYOT Policy.

Teachers encourage parents to support their children in accessing Google Classroom, helping them become familiar with the content and procedures. The chat feature is not recommended for communication. If parents or students need to contact the class teacher, this should be done through the usual channels — either via email or a phone call.

Should you have any problems logging on or you do not have access to a computer or the internet, please contact the School.
